NEIGHBORHOOD SECURITY PATROLS

A “NEW” INDUSTRY ROLE?

Some folks think that neighborhood patrolling is a new role for the private security industry.  And the fact is, rising crime statistics and insufficient police protection have made private patrolling of neighborhoods one of the fastest growing sectors of the security industry.

THE QUALITY SERVICE

Not surprisingly, NOPP was one of the first contract security companies in the nation to provide neighborhood patrols. What you may be surprised to learn is that we began our first residential and neighborhood patrols in the early 1930s!

However, we realize that time marches on, and so does technology.  We feature the latest patrol tour verification systems, wireless computers, and radio and cellular communications, all operated by specially selected and trained patrolmen supervised by a locally based, twenty-four hour staff of inspectors, supervisors, and dispatchers. When it comes to residential security, quality is everything!

A SPECIAL BREED OF OFFICER

The residential patrolman has to be well rounded.  He has to enjoy working with people, and must be presentable at all times.  Yet he also has to be able to deal quickly and effectively with the criminal element.  At NOPP, we know that the patrolmen assigned to protect you and your family has an extra special job.  Routine drug screening and four different background checks are required of all residential patrol candidates, and we require at least forty hours of on-site training with an experienced senior patrolman before we assign a new replacement to your post.  And we take the trouble to check on your officers by surprise inspections and hourly call-ins to our dispatch office, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

THE EXTRA TOUCH

Only the top five percent of our officers ever work in residential patrols. We select only those officers who demonstrate superior intelligence and clear judgment, because when an emergency occurs, these traits can make all the difference. Once selected, residential security officers receive additional training in the following subjects:

  •  Public relations
  •  Communication skills
  •  Escort procedures
  •  Self-defense and defense of others
  •  Criminal laws and ordinances
  •  Burglar alarm response techniques
  •  Fire and emergency evacuation
  •  Firearms certification
  •  Defensive driving techniques
  •  Radio communications
  •  Shoot / don’t shoot scenarios

To ensure that your patrolmen receive the very best instruction, they’re trained by an independent certification agency staffed by retired police officers.  Unlike so-called “in-house” instructors who work for the same company that employs the guards, NOPP avoids any conflict of interest in training, testing, and certification.  It’s also nice to know that your account is being handled by a locally based professional who already knows your neighborhood intimately.   And because we’re proud to have your neighborhood as a customer, we’ll provide yard signs, decals, and telephone stickers to make sure that outsiders know that your neighborhood is well protected by NOPP.

We know that your family’s protection is the most important kind of security you’ll ever need.  The sooner we get started, the better!
